Owners of iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, and iPhone 3GS who upgraded their devices to iOS 6.1.3 can already jailbreak their iDevices by following the steps below. Use the latest version of any jailbreak tool you trust. Before starting, know that there are jailbreaking tools especially designed for tethered jailbreaking and that requires regular connection to the computer every time you need to reboot, except for the iPhone 3GS that has an older bootrom.
Tethered jailbreaking tools are commonly compatible with the pre A-5 devices like iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and the iPod Touch 4G. Before starting the process, it is advised that you back up all files and data stored within your iOS device. It is also important that your battery is charged up to 80 percent.
The first step requires you to download the latest version of your preferred jailbreaking tool. Then you also need to download the iOS 6.0 firmware for your iOS device. When all of these are completed, it is important that you connect your iPhone 4 to your computer. After that, double click with the zip file of your downloaded tool. Launch the jailbreaking application after extracting the file.
Note that you should run as an Administrator during the process especially if you are using Windows XP or Windows 7. Click the EXTRA button and select the IPSW button. After that, look for and select your downloaded iOS firmware and wait for it to be recognized by the jailbreaking tool.
You now need to go to the main menu of the jailbreaking tool then click on the JAILBREAK button. It will start launching the jailbreak data. When this is done, you will be prompted to choose the jailbreak option. Make sure that you also checked on Cydia and then click the NEXT button to continue. For iPhone 3GS users, you also need to select the ENABLE BATTERY PERCENTAGE button.
Next, you will be then asked to put the iOS device to DFU mode. You will then be guided to the needed steps to complete the process. After completing the process, your iOS device must be rebooted. It will again reboot and the jailbreak tool will start uploading the latest kernel and RAM disk. You will be notified when the process is complete after which, you simply need to click OK and then the QUIT button to be able to exit.
Your iOS device will reboot again within the next five minutes. Your home screen will appear but still without Cydia as you must tether boot your iPhone 4 device using the jailbreaking tool. Simply follow the onscreen guide to be able to complete the process.
